Shared Blender scenes
Mixer enables several artists to work simultaneously on the same Blender scene. Users connect by IP address and can create project rooms on a server for collaborative editing.
Room content is deleted by default after every participant leaves. A room can instead remain open, or its content can be saved manually, providing persistence when a session ends.
Ubisoft development
Ubisoft developed Mixer after joining the Blender Development Fund as a Corporate Gold member. The studio also considered extending the collaboration system to other 3D editing applications. Digital Production covered related support in its Blender funding report.
Availability
The add-on was released under the GNU General Public License for the contemporary Blender version and remained in early alpha. Source code and documentation were published on GitHub. Test server access, scene synchronisation, asset paths and room persistence before using alpha collaboration software on production files.
