Lighting and look-development essentials
In this two-part Gnomon workshop, CG artist Adrien Vallecillas demonstrated techniques for improving lighting, shading and texturing.
The course explained the fundamental differences between real-world materials and computer-generated shaders, then showed how to add realism and credibility to 3D materials. Exercises covered vehicles, human characters and still-life subjects.
Further information
Vallecillas used Maya and Redshift, while noting that the principles could transfer to other digital-content tools. The Gnomon Workshop course page provided access to Lighting & Look Dev Essentials Vol. 2.
