Autodesk Outlines VFX and Production Sessions for FMX 2021

Autodesk’s FMX 2021 programme covered next-generation VFX, Bifrost, USD, 3ds Max retopology, remote collaboration and industry education.

Autodesk at FMX 2021

Autodesk joined the online FMX 2021 programme with sessions on advanced visual effects and educational opportunities for emerging artists.

The company also presented developments in Universal Scene Description, retopology tools for 3ds Max, Bifrost visual programming for Maya, and remote studio collaboration with Shotgun.

Programme

Autodesk’s sessions spanned 4–5 May and included:

Tuesday, 4 May

13:30–14:15: Superpowers, CG Sets, and LEDs: Framestore’s Work on Project Power, with Framestore lead FX TD Jimmy Leung.

15:00–16:00: Late-Night Experiments With Bifrost, with 3D generalist and Bifrost testing-team member Phil Radford.

16:30–17:30: Mkali’s Mission: Creating and Collaborating at a Distance, a panel with Autodesk digital-content specialist Ken La Rue and Patrick LeMay, Alexandra Papouchina, Arvid Schneider, Konstantinos Zacharakis, Phil Radford and Adrian Wise.

Wednesday, 5 May

18:45–19:30: Smarter Retopology With 3ds Max, with 3ds Max product owner Logan Foster and VFX artist Eloi Andaluz Fullà.

A production introduction to USD with Autodesk senior product owner Will Telford.

19:45–22:30: Show & Tell: Collaborating on The Living System, with visual design director Bradley Munkowitz, known as GMUNK, and visual artist Shane Griffin.
