Maxon announced that perpetual licences for the Redshift GPU renderer would end on 31 August 2021, after which new access would be subscription-only. The company also planned to discontinue the Cinema 4D and Redshift subscription bundle on the same date.
Final subscription pricing had not been announced when the original report appeared. Maxon said annual costs would be broadly comparable with its maintenance fees at the time: US$250 for node-locked licences and US$300 for floating licences.
The change integrated Redshift into the MyMaxon account and subscription system. Existing perpetual licences remained relevant to the software versions covered by their terms, while future upgrades followed Maxon’s updated licensing model.
