Cesium and Epic Games released Cesium for Unreal as a free, open-source plugin for Unreal Engine.
Global 3D geospatial content
The plugin provided access to high-resolution 3D geospatial data for use in real-time applications. Developers could populate virtual worlds with 3D content captured around the world by cameras, satellites, drones and other imaging systems.
Epic Games described the collaboration as part of its vision for an open metaverse. Cesium framed the plugin as a bridge between geospatial data and computer graphics.
