RED Digital Cinema released the V-RAPTOR 8K VV, a compact multi-format cinema camera built around a 40.96 × 21.60 mm sensor.
Resolution and frame rates
The camera recorded full-sensor 8K at up to 120 frames per second, or 150 fps in a 2.4:1 aspect ratio. It supported 6K at up to 160 fps, rising to 200 fps at 2.4:1, and 2K 2.4:1 at up to 600 fps. RED specified more than 17 stops of dynamic range.
The multi-format sensor supported 8K large-format capture and 6K Super 35. REDCODE RAW provided 16-bit RAW recording together with RED’s IPP2 workflow and colour-management tools.
Connections and body
Professional connections included two 4K 12G-SDI outputs, XLR audio with phantom power through an adapter, and USB-C for remote control. The weather-resistant body measured approximately 15.24 × 10.8 cm and weighed about 2 kg. Other features included a locking RF lens mount and wireless control and preview over Wi-Fi.

Historical availability
At launch, the white V-RAPTOR 8K VV was priced at US$24,500. RED said a black version would follow before the end of 2021 and an XL body aimed at high-end production would arrive in the first half of 2022.
