In brief: Autodesk released Maya 2022.3 with updates for 3D modelling, character rigging and animation.

Morph retargeting: The new Retarget mode transferred animated displacement from source geometry to target geometry with matching topology, enabling facial animation to move between characters.

Mirror Morph Deformations: Facial deformation from one side could be mirrored to the other side.

Tangential Constraint Controls: These controls kept vertices from moving inside or outside a deforming surface.

Additional updates: The Jiggle Deformer regained GPU support through cached playback. Relax, Smear, Pinch, Grab and Smooth sculpting brushes automatically constrained themselves to live surfaces, and artists could select a separate constraint surface while sculpting. Arnold, Bifrost, Substance integration and Maya USD also received updates.

Documentation: Autodesk published the detailed Maya 2022.3 notes. Test rigs, deformation caches, sculpt constraints and plug-ins before migrating production scenes.
