In brief: Epic Games released City Sample, a downloadable Unreal Engine 5 project showing how the city from The Matrix Awakens technology demo was assembled. The sample demonstrated how Nanite, Lumen and MetaHumans could be integrated into a game-scale environment.
What was included? Three focused packages were also extracted from the full sample:
- City Sample Buildings, with more than 2,000 customisable modules.
- City Sample Vehicles, with 13 driveable vehicles.
- City Sample Crowds, providing people for crowd simulation.
