In brief: Mika Kuwilsky, an environment artist at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, published Medieval Town, a small castle environment recalling fantasy settings such as The Lord of the Rings, The Elder Scrolls and Elden Ring.
How was Medieval Town created? Mountain slopes inspired the composition, so Kuwilsky placed the castle in a strongly vertical environment. The artist reported completing the project in four days, using tileable textures from Quixel to reduce production time.
Which tools were used? Kuwilsky worked with Maya, Substance 3D Painter, Blender and Unreal Engine. A high-resolution sky texture came from Poly Haven.
Project access: The complete Medieval Town project and further fantasy environments were published through the artist’s ArtStation portfolio. Artists adopting a similar rapid workflow should verify texture licences, scene optimisation and target-platform performance before production use.
