Christmas Assets: Eight Weeks to Look Festive

63 models, 121 materials and eight weeks to Christmas. Greyscalegorilla supplies the props; your company still needs a plan.
A festive Christmas composition features stacked gift boxes in green and red beneath a floating gold ribbon spiral, surrounded by ornaments, candy shapes, and star accents. Soft studio lighting and a muted olive background create a clean, elegant holiday display.

For those who don’t know the tools: Greyscalegorilla‘s Holiday Workshop and Holiday Materials supply festive 3D props and surfaces for product visualisation, motion design and seasonal scenes. KitBash3D‘s Cargo delivers them to supported 3D applications. You still supply the idea, lighting and animation. Apparently those remain on your side of the Christmas miracle.

Eight weeks. Yes, really.

It is 30 October. Christmas Day is exactly eight weeks away. If your company has just decided it needs the best Christmas video ever, congratulations on getting an excellent head start on 2027.

For 2026, perhaps begin with something achievable before the final approval meeting discovers it would prefer the other shade of red. For everyone happy to cobble together a decent festive greeting, a product loop or a seasonal end card, these 3D assets are useful building blocks. They also suit a more ambitious production with an actual plan. The difference is mostly how many decisions you make before opening the scene.

Santa has outsourced the prop department

Holiday Workshop contains 63 fully textured, modular models across three heaps. The wrapping selection includes rolled and unfurled paper, ribbon, bows and gift boxes. Santa’s workshop adds a workbench, paint supplies, tools, storage boxes, nutcrackers, pinecones and wooden plinths. The fireplace setting supplies an Art Nouveau fireplace, stockings, garland, a decorated tree, presents and sweet treats. There is also a menorah among the individual props.

Use a full vignette as the starting point for a scene, or pull out a single object for an existing composition. Greyscalegorilla made the models with UV unwrapped and minimal seams for applying the companion materials. For a company greeting, a gift box beside the hero product might do more useful work than an entire toy factory nobody has time to animate. Restraint is available separately, from you.

121 ways to make it look expensive

Holiday Materials provides 121 4K physically based rendering materials. Food surfaces cover chocolate truffles, sugared gumdrops, candy canes, ribbon candy, waffle cone and plain or iced gingerbread. Wrapping options include sheer, striped and metallic ribbons, gift wraps and candy foils. Decorative finishes range from milk, fluted, dented and mirrored glass to metallic glass, painted wood, glitter and disco balls. Snow, knits and felt cover the softer end of the seasonal spectrum.

A dark presentation layout shows four festive material swatches in tall rounded panels: a chocolatey textured food surface, green tartan wrapping with red stripes, a gold diamond-lattice decor finish, and a soft white faux-snow surface. Short captions below label each sample, creating a clean seasonal mood.

The two collections work together, but the materials can also dress your own geometry. That makes alternate looks practical without rebuilding the composition: change the wrapping, adjust the palette and keep the camera. The inevitable request for a “more premium” version can at least begin with a surface change rather than a fresh existential crisis.

Import the assets, keep the deadline

Cargo sends assets directly into a connected scene, preparing geometry hierarchies and instances and translating materials to the selected renderer. Its pipeline uses USD and MaterialX; Greyscalegorilla also builds materials that arrive as assembled shaders. Our earlier Cargo 3.0 article explains the combined library workflow.

The current support matrix lists Blender 4.2–5.2 with Cycles/Eevee; Cinema 4D 2023–2026 with Redshift, Octane, V-Ray or Arnold; Maya 2024–2026 with Arnold/Redshift; Houdini 20–22 with Karma (MaterialX), Arnold or V-Ray; 3ds Max 2024–2027 with Arnold, Octane, Redshift or V-Ray; and Unreal Engine 5.2–5.8 with its native renderer.

Before promising delivery, test one representative asset in your actual host and renderer. Cargo requires Windows or an Apple Silicon Mac; Intel Macs are unsupported. Blender must come from blender.org, and Unreal support covers official Epic Games Launcher builds rather than source builds. Check the imported materials, texture scale and a final-size test render before duplicating the whole North Pole. A populated scene still needs art direction, lighting, animation and rendering, none of which becomes instantaneous because the ribbon came ready-made.

The subscription under the tree

Both packs are included in the Greyscalegorilla Library and Everything Bundle. Current individual pricing is US$79 per month for the Library, or US$468 billed yearly, equivalent to US$39 per month. The Everything Bundle is currently US$159 monthly or US$948 billed yearly, equivalent to US$79 per month. Cargo itself is free to download; that does not make these paid collections free.

Commercial work is included. Individual plans cover one user; the Teams plan starts at US$99 per user per month, billed annually with a four-seat minimum. The vendor says projects already incorporating assets can continue to be used, rendered and distributed after cancellation, but those assets cannot then be used in new projects. Buying a month now is therefore not the same as stocking an unrestricted cupboard for Christmas 2027.

Consider this your friendly reminder

Get the presents ready. Get the earplugs ready for when you are with the family, preferably before somebody discovers the karaoke microphone. Leave room in the budget for the post-dinner heartburn medication, and leave room in the schedule for backups and playing with your new tools. Might we recommend having a play with the newest Blender version?

There are eight weeks left. Enough time to make something charming, provided “charming” survives the again-surprised-Christmas-is-coming-stakeholder meeting.
