At this year’s FMX there was a talk „Open Source Software in the Motion Picture Industry – An Investigation by the Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences”. Cinema 4D Release 19: Departure on several fronts

In the latest iteration, Cinema 4D gives us a glimpse into the future. A lot of things are happening behind the scenes, such as work on a new core, i.e. the heart of the software. Elsewhere, changes are more clearly visible, such as the integration of a new GPU-based renderer or the expansion of MoGraph and OpenGL capabilities.
