European Wavey Awards Open to LightWave Artists

The first European Wavey Awards invited LightWave stills and animations up to five minutes, with category prizes and a SIGGRAPH trip for the overall winner.

NewTek Europe opened the first European Wavey Awards for work created with LightWave 3D. Entries were divided into four categories:

  • Best still image for print or screen
  • Best animation of no more than 10 seconds
  • Best animation of no more than one minute
  • Best animation of no more than five minutes

Each category had separate student or individual and commercial awards. Winners received a Wavey statuette and an additional prize worth several hundred euros.

An overall prize awarded a trip to SIGGRAPH in San Diego, including flights, hotel accommodation and exhibition admission. Entries for the first round had to arrive by 30 March 2003.

NewTek accepted submissions on CD or Zip disk and would return clearly addressed Zip media on request. Electronic transfer was possible by prior arrangement with NewTek Europe.
