Anark planned platform independence with Studio 2.0, scheduled for mid-April 2003. Both the authoring application and its output format were to run on Mac OS X 10.2 as well as Windows. The company was working with NVIDIA to establish its interactive real-time 3D format for online, kiosk and e-learning applications.
Version 1.5.2 added a dedicated exchange format for direct imports from Maya, LightWave, 3ds Max and Plasma. It accepted .3ds data, sound, streaming MP2 and MP3 music, AVI, ASF, WMA, WMV, QuickTime 3 MOV/QT files and MPEG sequences. Supported still-image formats included PNG, JPEG, TGA, TIFF, BMP and Photoshop PSD files with transparency.
Anark presentations could then be delivered on Windows through an Internet Explorer browser plugin, a standalone player for offline applications, or ASF output for Windows Media Player 9. A free 30-day trial of Anark Studio 1.5.2 was included with the following issue of Digital Production.
