DNA stands for “Digital Nonlinear Accelerators” and comprises hardware components developed specifically for video editing that maximize the performance of standard hardware. Combined with Avid’s NLE solutions, the Avid DNA family – consisting of Nitris, Adrenaline and Avid Mojo – enables all professional users to accomplish real-time functionality as well as outstanding image and sound qualities – from capturing to output in DV, SD or HD video formats.
The DNA family runs under a new generation of software that offers real-time as well as expanded input/output functionality. Interoperability with Avid’s “Unity” storage and server solutions and Media Asset Management Solutions is ensured. The system is also fully programmable and allows problem-free upgrading of codecs, effects and other functions via the web or CD.
The Avid DS Nitris and Avid DS Nitris Editor systems are expected to be available from the third quarter and to cost 145,000 and around 79,000 euros respectively. Availability of the Avid Media Composer Adrenaline and NewsCutter Adrenaline FX systems is expected for the second quarter of 2003. Prices will start at around 25,000 euros. The portable Avid Mojo solution, which can be bundled with the Avid Xpress Pro and NewsCutter XP programs, is expected for the third quarter of 2003 and will cost around 1,700 euros.
