Interfaces for Softimage, 3ds max, Maya and LightWave enable 3D data to be exported directly to Quest. Core applications include interactive walkthroughs of architectural objects, illustrating complex relationships in mechanical engineering, and developing 3D games. Quest provides all of these capabilities through a graphical “programming language.”
Version 2.0 adds features including cloth simulation, an AI engine, nature tools, real-time physics and arrays. Because Quest applications can be distributed as royalty-free runtimes, users incur only the one-time purchase cost. The Professional Edition is available for €915.24. Users who need an ODBC database connection can choose the Enterprise Edition, which costs €2,308 and also makes it possible to develop networked interactive applications. Multi-seat licences for non-commercial use in schools and universities start at €230 per workstation.
