Panasonic is expanding its P2 range with the AJ-PCS060 DVCPRO P2 Store Drive. The 2.5-inch, 60 GB hard disk stores the contents of fifteen 4 GB P2 cards.
Transferring one 4 GB P2 card takes around four minutes. The drive then connects to the editing system through USB 2.0 and appears as external storage. It can reduce the number of expensive P2 cards needed on location, with rapid LAN transfer available later in the edit suite.
The AJ-PCS060 is scheduled to be available from August 2005 for US$1,800.
