LightWave 8.3 adds support for multicore processors, initially limited to the Windows version because corresponding Mac hardware is not yet available. Other changes include improved PSD import and export, enhanced vector-blur routines, and an increase in the polygon-point limit from 1,024 to 16,383. The update is free for existing users of version 8.x, while a full licence costs US$495.
