From August 2 to 4, Avid will be represented at Siggraph 2005 in Los Angeles with two booths. At the “Avid Computer Graphics” booth (booth no. 1401), specialists will present news about Softimage’s DCC tools and the Alienbrain asset management software. At the “Softimage Training Center” (booth no. 1039), trade fair visitors can take part in free training courses. In addition, the annual Softimage User Group will take place on Tuesday, August 2, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. As part of this event, Blur Studio (winner of first prize at the animago AWARD 2005), Hybride Technologies, Mainframe Entertainment, Omation Studios, Stan Winston Digital and Studio Ghibli will present their work on film projects created with XSI – including Sin City, Stuart Little 3, The Barnyard, Fantastic Four and Howl’s Moving Castle.

“This year, Avid will present the most advanced technologies in Digital Content Creation and Asset Management, optimised for the latest hardware – including upcoming game consoles and 64-bit workstations,” explains Gregor vom Scheidt, Vice President Computer Graphics at Avid: “In addition, many talented 3D artists in the industry will demonstrate how they use Avid’s CG tools to create impressive and complex visual graphics for film, broadcast and game design.“

During Siggraph 2005, Avid will also show the role Softimage|XSI software plays in 3D production environments for CG feature films, visual effects, television postproduction and game development. Several customers such as Code f/x, PSYOP, Shaw Science, Troublemaker Studios and UVPHACTORY will show projects they implemented with XSI software at the Avid Computer Graphics booth. Avid will also present its proven asset management system Alienbrain Studio v7.1, so that trade fair visitors can see for themselves how the program enables a significant increase in productivity with the help of workflow and collaboration tools.

In addition, XSI artists from different companies such as CG Soup, Janimation, Pixel Liberation Front, Pixel Corps and Softimage will hold free technology seminars at the Softimage Training Center, whose participants can get to know XSI in every detail. The Training Center will also hold a series of introductory courses on XSI, led by professional instructors from Centre NAD in Montreal.
