Splutterfish’s new version of the renderer for 3ds max will also work with Maya and Rhino when delivery begins in autumn. There will also be a standalone version of the renderer, the company announced at Siggraph.

In addition to generally increased performance, the new version is to require less memory. The interface was changed to improve the workflow.

The basic version of the program costs US$1,200 and includes licences for one workstation (with GUI) as well as two render-only licences. Additional render licences are offered for US$750 per four render servers. A demo version and some useful plug-ins and tutorials can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website.
