Faster Color Correction: Incinerator 1.0

As a complement to its Lustre systems, Autodesk has introduced Incinerator, which permits real-time processing even for color corrections on 2k material.

Autodesk today announced the release of Incinerator 1.0. The new system improves the real-time performance and interactivity of Discreet Lustre, Autodesk’s digital color-correction system.

The Incinerator system uses cluster computation methods that enable real-time performance for complex primary and secondary color correction. (Primary color correction is the color modification of the overall image, while secondary color corretion refers to modifying sections of the image, such as the color of a car or the tint of the sky.)

Real-time processing of visual effects is also possible at high-definition and 2K resolutions. Incinerator at least significantly accelerates 4K processing.

The Incinerator system is a modular solution that multiple Discreet Lustre systems can share in a networked work environment, thereby offering postproduction houses a way to use their resources sensibly in the production process. The Incinerator system is compatible with the recently released Linux-based Discreet Lustre 2.7 digital color-correction system. However, it does not work with older Lustre versions.
