Imagineer’s new and revised products now all have a uniform, revised interface, can work with proxies and run under Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. On the input side, the company has improved the import filters, which is intended to make footage import up to four times faster. Across the board, the new products also use caching for calculating or playback, which significantly speeds up rendering the final sequences.
Monet 2.01 contains a Morpher for deforming the tracked material. A Stabilizer now also makes it possible to stabilize material in which no fixed point can be found. The Stabilizer has a special function for removing minor camera shakes and can stabilize the rotation as well as the position and perspective of the material. The new version is available immediately and costs 16.000 US dollars.
Mokey 4.01 makes it easier to change animated shapes through automatic keyframing. In addition to the general new features and improvements, Mokey is now able to work with both linear and logarithmic material.
Motor 1.05 is is, in a sense, a specialized version of Monet, namely a pure rotoscoping tool for creating and tracking masks. Imagineer’s image-based tracker makes it easy to track the masks and give them a soft edge. It is also possible to include the motion blur of the image in the calculation and thereby obtain a mask with a soft edge corresponding to the motion blur. The tracked masks can be saved directly as a Shake composite and soon also as a Fusion file. The beta phase of this product begins after NAB, and the launch will probably take place at IBC 2006. The price is expected to be around 9.000 US dollars for five licenses.
An even more specialized program is Moxel, whose release date is, however, uncertain to date. This program is intended specifically to automatically track and obscure faces and license plates. The product will cost around 3.000 US dollars.
