Microcosm is a lossless codec that is intended to achieve a compression ratio of up to 6:1. It requires at least Quicktime 5.0 and works in After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, most Avid versions and other Quicktime-compatible applications. It also supports alpha channels.
In the new version 1.2, it supports both Windows computers (ME through XP) and Intel or PowerPC Macs.
Microcosm 1.2 is available immediately. The regular price is 99 dollars; until November 15, there is an introductory price of 79 dollars. For owners of the previous version, the update is available free of charge on request.
Digital Anarchy furthermore offers a decoder for Microcosm-encoded material free of charge on its website. A demo version is also available there.
