For the event’s 10th anniversary on March 30/31, 2007, in Friedrichshafen, the International Spotlight Advertising Film Festival will for the first time present a prize in the new “Web & Mobile” competition category. At the same time, a newly assembled expert jury is also intended to allow the views of other creative people to flow into the evaluation: in 2007, film director Sönke Wortmann (“Germany – A Summer’s Tale”, “The Miracle of Bern”) and Teamworx producer Nico Hofmann (“The Airlift”, “The Storm Surge”) are members of the panel. In addition to advertising-industry professionals, the festival also addresses students. The participation deadline for the current competition has been extended; spots can now be submitted until February 9.

According to the organiser Festivalkino Südwest e.V., Spotlight wants the competition in the “Web & Mobile” area to open itself up to the advertising formats of the future. But for the new category, as for the existing “Film & TV” section, the respective story is said to be decisive for the success of the spot. In addition to the expert jury, the audience on site also decides on the evaluation of the individual productions.

The nominated spots are assigned either to the main competition with “real” commercial spots or to the student competition with young-talent work. The jury in the main competition is chaired by Sebastian Turner, Chairman of the Board of Scholz & Friends; the long-standing jury chairwoman of the student competition is Gabriele Röthemeyer, Managing Director of MFG Filmförderung.

For the first time, Spotlight is taking place this year at the same time as the Creative Industries trade show for companies in the creative economy, which is likewise located on the grounds of Messe Friedrichshafen. Spotlight visitors have free admission to the Creative Industries, which is open all day, with their ticket.

The Spotlight website provides information about all aspects of the competition and details about the festival.
