Maxon has introduced the latest version of its Cinema 4D package for architectural visualisation. Alongside data exchange with Allplan, ArchiCAD and VectorWorks, the Architecture Edition adds extensive object and material libraries and a Virtual Walkthrough. Cinema 4D Release 10 also includes improved scene management and an interactive render preview for checking results in real time.
According to Maxon, the revised interface uses clearer icons and practical details such as collapsible managers. Architecture-focused features include Enhanced OpenGL display in the editor, scene management with search and filtering in the Object Manager, and dedicated layer management.
The Architecture Extension Kit places its new libraries directly in the Content Browser preview. It includes more than 300 furniture and furnishing objects, some based on products from established manufacturers, plus abstract human figures and outdoor objects. More than 400 materials were selected and optimised for architectural work.
Virtual Walkthrough allows users to navigate a scene directly in the editor while collision detection accounts for stairs and walls. A travelled route can be recorded and reused as a path for rendering photorealistic animation. The interactive render preview automatically recalculates a selectable region at preview quality whenever the scene changes.
A printed quick-start manual covers the preparation and production of architectural renders and supplements the integrated HTML help system.
Cinema 4D R10 Architecture Edition is available for Windows and Macintosh. The package, including Advanced Render, Sketch and Toon and the Architecture Extension Kit, costs €1,666. Maxon offers the Architecture Extension Kit separately for €298 to extend an existing Cinema 4D R10 installation with CAAD exchange plug-ins and additional libraries.
