DVS is demonstrating true 4K playback at NAB: A system can be seen at the booth that performs Clipster Zoom & Pan, cropping and primary color correction on 4K footage (4,096 x 2,116) in real time. With the Centaurus II video card, Clipster now also supports creating a JPEG2000 master for Digital Cinema according to the DCI specification.
A new product is responsible for conversion to JPEG2000 in real time: Hydra. This board can be integrated into Clipster, but also exists as an OEM product for third-party providers. The PCI-X card supports real-time conversion for up to 2 dual-link 4:4:4 channels or 3 single-link 4:2:2 channels.
For the central DVS-SAN storage, the company now offers the Spycer Box. This computer automatically creates proxy versions of the image sequences in the SAN. The low-resolution sequences can then be viewed with other computers on the network without unnecessarily burdening the SAN. In future, the Spycer Box is also to be converted or expanded into a complete backup solution for the SAN. DVS did not state prices.
