Natural Motion announces the latest version of its animation engine and middleware Morpheme: Morpheme 1.1 has, among other things, new network management and navigation tools as well as framebuffering capabilities. The software is intended to give developers and animators the greatest possible creative control over the look of the final in-game animation by allowing them to study and refine blends, blend trees and transition graphs in a real-time preview.

Morpheme consists of two components: Morpheme:Runtime and Morpheme:Connect. The former is a runtime engine optimized for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC that is supplied with full source code. Morpheme:Connect serves as a 3D authoring application that enables animators to graphically author blend trees and transition logic, with parameters adjustable via sliders and results viewable in real time. As an open system, Morpheme integrates seamlessly into existing middleware and DCC solutions, emphasizes the manufacturer.

Morpheme 1.1 is available for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Natural Motion also intends to present the new version at Siggraph (stand 603), which takes place from August 5 to 9 in San Diego, California.
