The novel of the same name by Joanne K. Rowling appeared in 2003. After just one day of sales, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” was already at the top of the media control hardcover fiction charts. In total, the bestseller remained in the Top 25 for 71 weeks, 10 of them at number one.
The stories from Hogwarts enchanted whole generations not only as a book or in the cinema: All Harry Potter DVDs were in the top position in the media control charts. The success story was also continued with computer games and soundtracks. All Harry Potter games and the film music were placed high in the hit lists.
The best opening weekend of all Potter film adaptations to date was “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” with 2.69 million viewers. Part one, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”, was seen by 2.59 million fans in the first four days in 2001. With a total of 12.3 million tickets sold, it is the most-watched film of the Hogwarts saga.
On July 21, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, the seventh volume, will be published. The German edition will be in bookshops from October 27, 2007.
