“Broadcast goes IT and the consequences”

Ernst Feiler of Grundy UFA examines the current transformation in film and television production. Increasingly, producers rely on file-based workflows instead of classic video- and film-based workflows.

Every day, an audience of millions allows itself to be entertained and inspired by Grundy UFA’s successful series. No other television producer employs more writers, more directors, more camera people, in short: more creative potential in front of and behind the camera. Specializing in the Daily Soap, Telenovela and Weekly Drama formats, Grundy UFA occupies a leading position in the field of industrial series production in Europe.

Computer Graphics, Animation and Compositing section:

“Massive – Character Behaviour for Film and TV“

Robert Mayer of weltenbauer presents the character animation software Massive, with the help of which computer-generated film figures (characters) can be brought to life by specialists (artists). Massive is used in many major blockbuster productions and realizes “an old dream of every artist” (Robert Mayer): The characters no longer have to be painstakingly animated –

they move almost by themselves.

The weltenbauer team (www.weltenbauer.com) specializes in the world of 3-D graphics and animation, visual effects and renderings. weltenbauer offers consulting, professional tools, software and hardware for 3D and Visual FX applications.

Industrial Design section:

“Photorealistic product visualization in the automotive-industry“

In her presentation, Andrea Gunschera of RTT AG takes a look behind the scenes of the automotive industry. She examines the extent to which automotive manufacturers can save time and money by using computer-generated images and film sequences (computer generated images – CGI). Photorealistic image material is generated from the vehicles’ 3D construction data. As a result, expenditure in prototype construction, for example, can be reduced. Andrea Gunschera demonstrates how such a production works and also draws a comparison with traditional photography.

RTT AG (www.rtt.ag) is one of the world’s leading providers of 3D- visualization technologies and services for industrial applications in the automotive, aviation and consumer-goods industries.

Broadcast, Film and TV section:
