SIGGRAPH 2007: Mobile Workstation from HP

Hewlett Packard’s focus in San Diego this year was on the mobile workstation range. Brandon Green, North America Product Manager at Hewlett Packard, reports interesting details about the mobile power packages.

With the 8510w and 8710w models, HP offers mobile power packages for on the move. The portable workstations use Intel Core2 Duo CPUs as processors. Blue-Ray burners can be used optionally. HDMI and Dual Link DVI are supported via a dock that is also optionally available. The 15.4-inch notebook uses the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M or the ATI Mobility FireGL V5600 as graphics card, each with 256 MBytes of video memory. The 8710w with 17-inch display was given the NVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M with 512 MBytes of RAM by HP. All graphics cards support OpenGL and DirectX.
