Autodesk Toxik, which until now was sold only as a complete system on dedicated hardware, can now be purchased as stand-alone software with the new Toxik 2008 version.
The software runs under Windows XP SP2 or Windows XP 64-bit on Intel or AMD CPUs with single-, dual orr quad-core processors and at least 1 GB of RAM as well as an Nvidia Quadro FX or GeForce graphics card.
Toxik 2008 also supports Linux. The hardware requirements are the same. One of the following systemsrun should be on the computer: Red Hat 4 Update 4, Red Hat 5 or Fedora Core 7.
The technical innovations include seamless integration of CG footage into 2D composites. Autodesk also promises significantly improved interaction with Maya and other 3D applications: Toxik 2008 receives highlights and reflections from 3D renderings, even if they are distorted, without affecting the image.
