Crysis was developed on NVIDIA’s GeForce 8 graphics processor family. In addition, NVIDIA programmers supported game developer Crytek in more than 5,000 hours of work to integrate the latest graphics technologies into the game. Crysis supports Extreme High Definition (XHD) with a resolution of up to 2,560 x 1,600 – that is almost twice as sharp as current game consoles.
The demo has been available since Saturday, October 27, at http://de.nzone.com/object/nzone_crysis_downloads_de.html. The complete version of the game is expected to be released in Europe and North America on November 16.
“Originally, we set ourselves two goals that were as extreme as they were exclusive: First, we wanted to break the boundaries of the interactive and nonlinear, and second, to be so realistic that gamers forget they are playing a game,” says Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “With NVIDIA’s support, we have achieved these seemingly impossible goals and thus defined the essence of Crysis. We developed Crysis on NVIDIA graphics processors and recommend GeForce 8800 graphics solutions for the best gaming experience.”
Roy Taylor, Vice President of Content at NVIDIA, adds: “Crysis is without doubt the most advanced and important game since Half Life. We congratulate Crytek and EA on the spectacular achievement. There has never been a game that looked so good and offered such an intense gaming experience.”
