The new versions of RTT DeltaGen and RTT Portal create more flexibility and design freedom to visualise design concepts and products in the highest quality.

With RTT DeltaGen 7.5 and RTT Portal 3.5, RTT AG, one of the leading providers of high-end visualisation software and services, continues to set standards in supporting developers and designers in the industry with product visualisation. The new functionalities make the design and development process even more efficient, faster and more powerful. One of the highlights is the revolutionary innovations in the RTT RealLight module for rapid real-time calculation and effective display of shadows. RTT DeltaGen 7.5 will be available this week. RTT Portal 3.5 is available at the end of November 2007.

Intuitive Play of Light and Shadow With RTT RealLight

RTT DeltaGen 7.5 offers further improvements for an extremely realistic display of real-time 3D models. This also includes the expansion of the RTT RealLight module for real-time light and shadow calculation: For the first time, object light sources for volume illumination can also be defined in real-time 3D scenes. Another significant innovation in RTT RealLight is three different application modes and an option for offline conversion. This enables RTT RealLight shadows to be converted into offline textures; this relieves the working memory and shortens the loading times of real-time 3D scenes. The three application modes also allow the user to place the emphasis on interactivity or performance, depending on requirements. In this way, RTT AG offers users with limited hardware equipment in particular the opportunity to work on large 3D models without having to accept losses in visual quality.

The following modes are distinguished:

The interactive mode as the classic RTT RealLight mode with unrestricted interactivity and rendering performance, but the highest demands on computing and graphics card performance.

The Freeze mode, with which certain light sources and the associated shadow effects are “frozen” in order to be able to limit memory utilisation.

With the new “Suspend mode”, high memory utilisation is avoided because all RealLight data is gradually swapped out of the working memory to free it up for other processes

The calculation time for realistic shading of scenes can be shortened with “Ambient Occlusion”, another calculation type now also available in RTT RealLight. Ambient Occlusion is particularly suitable for large models where smaller shadow effects such as the darkening of joints are to be achieved effectively in a short time.

For More Astethics in Design – the RTT Shader Workbench

By using shader technologies, designers are able to increase the degree of realism of a 3D model. The ability to create even more realistic simulation renderings allows companies to make design changes earlier in the development process in order to avoid errors and reduce costs.

To design 3D surfaces individually and particularly user-friendly, RTT AG supplies the RTT Shader Workbench: With this, the user can quickly and easily create CgFX shaders by means of a graphical user interface. For the first time, this is possible without separate programming knowledge. This is because the graphical user interface of the RTT Shader Workbench is divided into components, so-called “Shader Bricks”, with which colour and other texture and surface aspects are set intuitively. Finally, the user can check the input and output data of the shader just created.

Dynamic and Photorealistic Visualisation of Optical Effects – RTT RealTrace

Raytracing calculations are considered very time-consuming and have always caused headaches for 3D visualisation experts. Yet raytracing is one of the most realistic and correct rendering methods for visualising light reflections and refractions. RTT RealTrace sets a new standard for existing raytracing software: No other raytracing module on the market is as powerful and true to life as the GPU-based RTT RealTrace. Since the last version, the module has made it possible to create optical effects on surfaces dynamically and very quickly. In real time, raytracing effects adapt immediately to model changes such as movements or variant switching as well as animations.

More Flexibility and Design Freedom – the RTT Portal Asset Management System

With immediate effect, the RTT Portal asset management system in version 3.5 is coupled even more closely to RTT DeltaGen. Customer-specific server and front-end plugins allow server and RTT DeltaGen functionalities to be expanded in order to integrate RTT Portal smoothly into existing IT environments for individual workflows. In environments with multiple RTT Portal servers, a project can now be shared even more easily. In addition, RTT Portal’s intuitive user interface takes local circumstances into account and can also be switched to Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
