ZDF Programme Director Thomas Bellut: “Every male and female presenter at ZDF knows that surreptitious advertising is prohibited. I am sorry that we are thereby losing a popular presenter who found many fans through the ZDF-Fernsehgarten. We are now calmly looking for a successor.”
Ms Kiewel was to present the ZDF-Fernsehgarten again in 2008, as well as other entertainment programmes. Six programmes already produced will be broadcast as planned. These are “Advent in the Mountains” (December 23, 2007, 11.03 a.m.), “My Most Beautiful Christmas Song” (December 24, 6.00 p.m.), “The ZDF Hit Party” (December 31, 2007, 10.15 p.m.) and three episodes of the series “Cult on Sunday” (January 6, 20 and February 10, 2008, each at 11.03 a.m.). The programmes were checked again and are not objectionable.
The programme “Johannes B. Kerner” of January 23, 2007, and the cooking programme “Lafer, Lichter, Lecker” of January 13, 2007, in which Ms Kiewel had commented on Weight Watchers, will no longer be repeated or made available in the ZDFMediathek. During the review of programmes in which Ms Kiewel had spoken about Weight Watchers since her PR contract began, an edition of the service magazine “Volle Kanne!” from December 5, 2006, was also found. This programme will also no longer be repeated.
