The saga tops the annual charts, media control reports. Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley even outshine the world’s best-known secret agent. James Bond in “Casino Royale,” played by Daniel Craig for the first time, has to settle for second place. Third goes to Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and his undead crew: “Pirates of the Caribbean – At World’s End” takes bronze.
“The Simpsons Movie” carries the flag for animated films. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie turn Springfield so thoroughly upside down that they take fifth place in the best-of list.
Two German films make the top ten. Sönke Wortmann’s football World Cup documentary “Deutschland. Ein Sommermärchen” ranks sixth. Jean-Baptiste Grenouille plays his cruel game in the adaptation of Patrick Süskind’s bestseller “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer,” in ninth place.
Director Marcus H. Rosenmüller achieved a surprise with his black comedy “Grave Decisions.” It lands in 16th place, one spot ahead of “The Lives of Others,” for which director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck received an Oscar.
