The glasses, designed by cult design studio FROG, bring videos from portable players directly before the eyes in cinema quality. The cinemizer simulates a display two metres away with a diameter of 115 centimetres (equivalent to a 45-inch screen). The glasses’ individual adjustment options ensure optimum image quality and undisturbed listening pleasure: thanks to interchangeable nose bridges and adjustable earpieces, the cinemizer fits every user perfectly. Spectacle wearers can continuously adjust different strengths on both sides of the cinemizer within a range of -3.5 to +3.5 dioptres. The speakers integrated into the arms can be individually adjusted in length and angle for the right and left ears.
Carl Zeiss optimised its cinemizer for use with all video-capable iPods. An iPod Connector is supplied with the cinemizer. With this special adapter, users can conveniently connect their iPod to the video glasses’ battery box without an additional cable. Cinemizer buyers also receive different adapter clips tailored to the respective iPod types.
The cinemizer can also be operated with other devices. These include portable video players as well as a home DVDPlayer or games console. Simply insert a 4-pin 3.5mm A/V jack plug into the battery box’s video-in socket – done!
The video glasses’ battery box houses a powerful rechargeable battery that lasts for at least four hours when fully charged. A longer runtime depends on the selected image brightness and video mode. Users can choose between 2D and 3D mode here. Special 3DVideos are required to use 3D mode, however. Particularly practical: when the iPod’s battery charge is low, the player can also be powered by the cinemizer battery box. Availability and price The cinemizer will be available in Gravis Stores and at http://www.gravis.de from the end of February. The recommended retail price for the video glasses is €369.
