MW: Rob Hoffmann Demonstrates Maya Muscle Functionality for Maya at Macworld Expo 2008

At Macworld Expo in San Francisco, Autodesk Senior Product Marketing Manager Rob Hoffmann demonstrated the workflow of the new Maya functionality to the DP editorial team using version 2008.

According to the company, Maya Muscle provides technical directors and animators with the tools they need for detailed animation and skin design, including “muscle and skin” sculpting and deformation tools such as wrinkles.

The software is integrated into the Maya 2008 workflow, so users do not need to change their habits and find the familiar interface and workflow features.

Automatic rigs and real-time jiggle tweaking are also provided.

Autodesk Maya 2008 Extension 1 is available immediately as a download for Autodesk Maya 2008 Complete and Autodesk Maya 2008 Unlimited subscription customers with Gold Support. Extension 1 is not available as stand-alone software.

Prices are approximately €2,099 for Maya 2008 Complete (stand-alone) and €7,349 for Maya 2008 Unlimited (stand-alone). The upgrade from Maya 8.5 Complete to Maya 2008 Complete is available for €869, and the upgrade from Maya 8.5 Unlimited to Maya 2008 Unlimited for €1,199 (Gold Support for Maya 2008 Complete, stand-alone, €1,364; Maya 2008 Unlimited, €1,639).
