The comedy ‘27 Dresses’ won the newcomer duel between violence and humour. It takes the silver position on its debut. Jane (‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actress Katherine Heigl) is passionate about organising her friends’ weddings. She has already slipped into the role of bridesmaid 27 times. Her own romantic happiness always falls by the wayside. Anne Fletcher’s film drew 236,000 visitors over the weekend.
Sylvester Stallone returns as ‘John Rambo’ in third place. 226,000 action fans accompanied the Vietnam veteran on his mission in the jungles of Asia. There, the fighting machine frees a group of missionaries. Stallone was last seen on the cinema screen in ‘Rocky Balboa’ (2006). Last year, 410,000 cinema-goers celebrated the boxer’s comeback on its opening weekend.
With so much ambition, director Darren Lynn Bousman sees red. ‘Saw IV’ had to endure a severe setback. With 140,000 visitors, the horror film falls from the top position to sixth place.
Til Schweiger’s ‘Rabbit Without Ears’ slips to fourth place. 222,000 viewers are still not quite enough to break the five-million mark. There was no medal this week for ‘Asterix at the Olympic Games’. With 173,000 cinema-goers, the comic adaptation falls to fifth position.
