From 2008, HD AT WORK will operate through three components: the HD AT WORK forum, academy, and newsletter.
The forum will continue to provide selected professionals from film and television with two or three meetings each year for discussing current HD production and technology topics.
The new academy label adds a continuous year-round seminar program. Practitioners will provide intensive training in HD subjects including color grading, compositing, and set design. Dates and further details are available at http://www.hdatwork.de.
A new monthly newsletter will cover dates, productions, and subjects within and beyond Berlin-Brandenburg.
HD in Postproduction
The next HD AT WORK forum will take place at fx.Center Babelsberg from 14:00 to 20:00 on 2 April 2008. Titled HD in Postproduction, it will focus on digital-workflow challenges.
During the workshop, Dieter Sauter of IRT will assess the suitability of flat-panel LCD displays compared with the CRT monitors still prevalent in production.
PostFactory supervisor Gunter Puszkar will discuss experience with Panasonic’s P2 recording format.
Koppfilm and production company Boomtownmedia will present the cinema documentary Trip to Asia, using example sequences to explain several stages of the HD feature’s postproduction.
Screening and RED One Workflow
Industry professionals can submit work examples for full-resolution screening with a Christie 2K projector.
Mark Dauth of Magna Mana Postproduktion will present the result of Germany’s first RED One shoot, produced by StarCrest Media, together with the postproduction workflow selected for the project.
The second HD AT WORK forum is scheduled for 15 October 2008.
