The purchase price was not disclosed by agreement. The investment is part of the group’s strategy to cover all areas of the digital economy and has the specific aim of strengthening the Pixelpark group of companies’ expertise in Web 3D.

“Expansion and a presence in virtual worlds will play a major role in digital brand communication in future. Second Life, which has currently receded into the background, is only one part of this among many. In fact, a wealth of other Web 3D platforms already exists and will have a strong influence on the development of online communication in the coming years,” says Michael Riese, Chairman of Pixelpark AG. “We are therefore delighted that our investment in the Otherland Group has brought experienced specialists in this field into our group of companies.”

The Otherland Group supports companies that want to establish or expand their presence in Web 3D. Markus Breuer, Managing Director of the Otherland Group: “We offer not only advice on getting started and project implementation in virtual worlds, but also a range of tools and services for sustainably successful Web 3D projects, marketing services and tools for objectively monitoring the success of such projects. The Otherland Group works entirely independently of any platform and is already ‘at home’ in more than four virtual worlds.”
