The “New Thinking” perspective is also intended to emphasise Avid’s close ties with film and video professionals over more than 20 years – and above all its task of equipping them with precisely the tools that allow them to work more efficiently, productively and creatively. The new campaign aims to improve Avid’s products, workflows and services: alongside expanding technical customer support and the user community, Avid also wants to intensify opportunities for an open, mutual and close dialogue with its customers.
In the first phase of the “New Thinking” campaign, Avid presents the following news:
·Consolidation of editing applications – Avid Xpress Pro software is being incorporated into the Media Composer product line. A new, lower pricing structure is intended to make the software accessible to a larger group of users than before. Existing Avid Xpress Pro customers will continue to receive full support and can upgrade their systems to Media Composer software.
·New student discount for Media Composer software – whether at an Avid partner institution or not: every student enrolled at a university or college can now purchase Media Composer Software Academic for €322 including VAT
·New online community – this promises media professionals many new opportunities to obtain information and exchange ideas with the industry and other users: tips & tricks, demos, tutorials, media content and much more.
·Improved online customer support – Avid support customers should now be able to access detailed, personalised answers to important product and service enquiries even more easily, online and around the clock, without first having to call customer support.
“The “New Thinking” launch is only the first of many steps with which we will change our approach to our customers and prospects,” explains Kirk Arnold, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Avid Video. “We already look back on a long history of innovation and market leadership in digital media production. Building on this, we are now aligning our entire business specifically with our customers’ requirements to offer them new programmes with greater relevance, incentive and benefit. Today, we are laying the foundation for a long-term initiative to strengthen our customers’ loyalty and regain their trust.”
Unified Product Range, Greater Value
In response to customers’ desire to simplify the product range and thus make Avid tools accessible to a larger group of users, Avid Xpress Pro software has been incorporated into the Media Composer product line, while the price of Media Composer software has been reduced to €2,796.50 including VAT.
Customers who purchased Media Composer software after January 1, 2008, at the previous price of €5,592 including VAT will receive a discount on future purchases. At http://www.avid.com/products/media-composer/mcSavings.asp?cmpid=newthinkingpr_mc_save details can be viewed.
Existing Avid Xpress Pro customers can upgrade to Media Composer software at http://www.avid.com/promos/xpromoveup/?cmpid=newthinkingpr_upgrade for €535.50* including VAT. Avid will continue selling Avid Xpress Pro software until the end of Q2 2008 and providing corresponding support until March 17, 2013. However, Avid will stop selling support contracts or further software upgrades for Avid Xpress Pro with immediate effect.
In addition, all enrolled students are now eligible, upon providing proof, to purchase the Academic version of Avid Media Composer software for €322* including VAT. Avid Media Composer Academic is a full version that differs mainly in the provision of third-party software. Further information on Media Composer software is available at:
