denkwerk and Germanwings have won the German Multimedia Award 2008 (DMMA). The germanwings.com travel portal received the award in the E-Commerce category. Thomas Winkelmann, spokesperson for Germanwings’ Management Board, and Jochen Schlaier, Managing Director Creative at denkwerk, accepted the award yesterday evening in Berlin at the ceremony held as part of the German Multimedia Congress (DMMK).

The Cologne airline’s website is the most successful e-commerce platform in the German tourism industry. The airline portal offers a wide range of products, simple booking options and clear structures. Innovative sales tools such as the low-fare calendar, “Blind Booking” and the interactive route-network map provide convenient entry points for booking. A search based on Google Search allows the entire website to be searched for low-cost flights or partner offers.

“After winning the iF communication design award, germanwings.com has now also taken home the German Multimedia Award. Both awards confirm our creative approach, which clearly stands out from the mass of travel portals,” said Jochen Schlaier.

The DMMA has been awarded since 1996 to outstanding online and offline applications that exemplify the innovative strength and performance of interactive media. A total of 366 projects were submitted this year, with 14 works receiving the coveted DMMA.
