Autodesk Labs continually presents innovative extensions for Autodesk software solutions such as Autodesk Inventor. By offering these free add-ons, the company provides users with significant added value and helps them work even more productively and quickly. Labs makes new developments available for customer discussion, allowing users to try new functions and send feedback to the development team. The extensions are based on conversations with users, whose suggestions Autodesk incorporates into corresponding solutions. Several plug-ins are already available for Autodesk Inventor 2009. With iMap, for example, users can graphically display relationships between individual parts in assemblies and more easily understand dependencies between components and assemblies. Another extension is the Sustainable Materials Assistant, which allows designers to assess the environmental compatibility and recyclability of construction materials and plan more sustainably. Additional useful plug-ins are in development.

“The free additions from Autodesk Labs are excellent add-ons for our existing solutions. They are developed from customer feedback and provide substantial added value for our users,” explained Wolfgang Lynen, Industry Marketing Manager Manufacturing at Autodesk.
