Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions Ltd, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios announced on January 7, 2008, that filming had begun on the eagerly awaited 22nd James Bond adventure. Directed by Marc Forster, Daniel Craig returns in the role of 007. The 22nd Bond film follows the success of CASINO ROYALE, then the latest and highest-grossing film in the franchise.
Daniel Craig is joined by an impressive international cast led by renowned French actor Mathieu Amalric as Bond’s adversary and Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko in the female lead.
Returning from CASINO ROYALE are Judi Dench as M, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, and Giancarlo Giannini as Mathis. Bond newcomer Gemma Arterton will play MI6 agent Fields.
Wilson and Broccoli commented: “We are very happy to continue the Bond tradition of casting the finest international actors in our leading roles. As Dominic Greene, a senior member of the criminal organization introduced in CASINO ROYALE, Mathieu will be a formidable opponent for Daniel Craig’s James Bond. Olga Kurylenko will portray the dangerous and seductive Camille, who challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper’s betrayal.”
