Several universities, universities of applied sciences and private education providers now offer qualifications specifically tailored to the games industry. Whether game producer, game artist or 3D programmer, the selection is broad. The GC Job & Career exhibition area provides a comprehensive overview. National and international universities present themselves and introduce their courses daily. Participants include Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, Qantm Institute Munich, Mediadesign University Berlin, Games Academy Berlin and Berlin University of Applied Sciences. Visitors considering study abroad can obtain advice at the Department of Game Design stand from Sweden’s University of Gotland.
Presentations, workshops and panel discussions on education and careers in the games industry await visitors in the GC Forum. Representatives of the Federal Employment Agency, for example, offer insights into the current labour market and introduce selected fields of work. Educational institutions and companies also contribute. The 200-square-metre GC Forum offers space for more than 100 listeners.
GC Job & Career Day on 22 August 2008
First impressions are always the most important. On 22 August, visitors have an opportunity to present themselves at their best and establish new contacts in the games industry. During GC Job & Career Day, human-resources managers from exhibiting companies will answer questions in the public halls. Both career entrants and experienced specialists are catered for. Alongside specific job and internship opportunities, companies provide information about starting salaries and career paths. Several hundred school and university students, graduates and young professionals used the opportunity to obtain first-hand information during GC Job & Career Day the previous year.
