During Medientage München 2008, Eyes & Ears of Europe—the European association for design, promotion and marketing in audiovisual media—honored the year’s best production work for the tenth time. Acht Frankfurt visual catering won an Eyes & Ears Award in the “TV/Film/Media Design—Best Title Sequence for Non-Fiction Programming” category for its work on “ZDF Unsere Besten—Die größten Fernsehmomente.”
Commissioned by ZDF, Acht Frankfurt developed and produced an on-air promotion and title sequence for the program. The show, hosted by Johannes B. Kerner, aired in April 2008 and presented the 50 most moving television moments of the previous five decades.
Acht Frankfurt visual catering was also recognized for producing sports title sequences for Swiss Television. The project involved redesigning the openings for “sportaktuell,” “sportpanorama” and single-topic sports programs.
Acht Frankfurt’s challenge was to support both projects through several stages: concept, development and execution, production and shoot supervision, and post-production—all from a single source. The shoots were carried out with greenskyfilms and Thomas Brettschneider. Jan Litzinger directed for ZDF, while Manuel Messerli directed for Swiss Television.
Acht Frankfurt was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2003. Since then, the company has provided digital services for cinema, television and advertising-film productions. Alongside conventional post-production, Acht supervises shoots and projects and develops design concepts. The company, then employing 40 permanent and freelance staff, emphasized technical innovation. Its complete HD workflow included a Baselight color-grading suite operating to HD standards, two Flame systems and one Flint online system.
