The interaction between the two systems accelerates post-production workflows. Scanned film material is transferred directly from ARRISCAN to the SpycerBox via InfiniBand and is immediately available for further processing.
DVS and ARRI have demonstrated their innovative collaboration in a joint project: integrating a DVS SpycerBox with an ARRISCAN produced optimized post-production workflows. ARRI certified the SpycerBox in the process.
Thanks to the interaction between the two products, films are scanned at the highest quality and made available directly to the digital workflow. ARRISCAN performs scanning processes at high speed. Connected via InfiniBand, the SpycerBox stores the high-quality film data reliably. Other systems can access and process the data immediately through InfiniBand or Ethernet connections.
The SpycerBox can therefore be used as NAS (Nearline Attached Storage) from every workstation. Post-production companies benefit both from the film scanner’s high speed and from powerful storage that provides direct access to the various workstations.
The fast transfer of data between scanner and storage solution saves editors and colorists a great deal of time. Thanks to its numerous connectivity options, the SpycerBox can also be integrated easily into an existing IT infrastructure.
Konstantin Schinas, Product Manager at DVS, said: “We are pleased that our customers can once again benefit from our successful, long-standing cooperation with ARRI. Our joint solution takes the individual requirements of the post-production process into account and delivers a sustainable increase in DI-process performance.”
Dr. Jens Rumberg, ARRISCAN Project Manager, said: “Thanks to the InfiniBand connection to the SpycerBox, our customers achieve ARRISCAN’s full scanning speed and can access the data immediately. This is an optimum combination, particularly in commercial production. Not least because of the good relationship between ARRI and DVS, the technical implementation worked on the first attempt.”
