The Berlinale Talent Campus at the 59th Berlin International Film Festival (5–15 February 2009) is expanding its practical hands-on programs this year with the newly developed Campus Studio, comprising the Postproduction Studio and Editing Studio. The Postproduction Studio is intended to introduce talents to the latest digital technology in areas including ingest, grading, editing and mastering.
Two renowned digital postproduction specialists will be available: Claudia Meglin and Mark Read, whose credits include visual effects for Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling.” Young directors can apply to the Editing Studio with a rough cut of a short film and work with outstanding editors such as Job ter Burg (“Black Book”) and Susan Korda (“Trembling Before G-d,” Teddy Award 2001) to improve the dramaturgy of their edit. Campus Studio is being held in cooperation with FilmLight, Barco, Band Pro, Pictorion das werk and Avid Technology.
The Berlinale Talent Campus is an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival, a division of Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH. It is funded by the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag, in cooperation with MEDIA—the European Union’s training program—Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Skillset, the UK Film Council and Volkswagen.
