The third GAMEplaces International — Interactive Digital Media Conference was scheduled for June 22 at Messe Frankfurt. International sessions addressed trends in the rapidly growing industry, with Production & Development, Marketing & Sales and Transformation & Research as the principal themes. Former International Game Developers Association executive director and games-industry veteran Jason Della Rocca was the keynote speaker.
The conference was organized by Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt GmbH, the German Association for Interactive Entertainment Software and Weber Networking GmbH, with Hessen-IT, Messe Frankfurt and Red Carpet Event GmbH as partners. Organizers intended the third edition to discuss technological, content and business requirements, identify development trends and enable targeted networking.
As during the previous year, GAMEplaces International 2009 also offered conventional trade-show exhibition space. Companies wishing to present products or services could apply as exhibitors through Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt GmbH until May 22.
The traditional GAMEplaces dinner at a prominent Frankfurt venue closed the conference. A private panel discussion titled Generation Game was expected to include senior political and games-industry representatives, including Nintendo Germany managing director Dr Bernd Fakesch, Atari Germany managing director Lutz Anderie and keynote speaker Jason Della Rocca.
