This year, the animago AWARD will be presented in eleven categories under a revised competition format, but it remains a community award.
“This reorganization is our way of making sure the industry’s value is visible in society,” says Matthias J. Lange. “animago artists are creative professionals with the highest technical and artistic standards, and they deserve recognition—not only inside the community but also beyond it.”
With support from the Berlin-Brandenburg Medienboard, the event can reach a much wider audience. Kuntze notes that supporting this kind of competition and gala is also location-based investment: “Babelsberg means higher costs for us, but it also gives much stronger communication and visibility.”
The animago AWARD ceremony and follow-up party are the social backbone of the two-day animago conference. The conference in Babelsberg focuses on master classes, making-of sessions, demos and hands-on workshops. Organizers are currently building a line-up of national and international speakers and demo artists.
Lange adds, “We are putting together a diverse program that also showcases Babelsberg as a media production location.”
