Munich, June 30, 2009 – The most important award in the European animation industry is moving to Babelsberg. As hosts of the 13th animago AWARD ceremony, the fx.center will become the hub for the international animation and post-production community.
“As a media location, animago belongs in Babelsberg,” says animago project leader Matthias J. Lange. The Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg is sponsoring both the animago AWARD and the two-day animago CONFERENCE.
Films such as Ratatouille, virtual worlds such as Second Life, video games like World of Warcraft, and commercials all rely heavily on animation. The industry is growing fast across multimedia, web, mobile, and gaming applications.
Due to the expanding international participation in the digital content creation sector, more than 10,000 works and entries from over 30 countries were already submitted this year. To make sure as many artists as possible can participate, the deadline has been extended to July 31, and participation remains open to everyone at no cost.
The animago jury and community partners will select the winners in 11 categories. In some categories, readers of communities such as FotoCommunity.de, Hobnox, and MacNews will be part of the judging.
The winners will be presented at the animago gala on the first evening of the animago CONFERENCE.
